Training

SCA's sports chaplaincy training is recognised as a global leader in preparing people to serve God as skilled pastoral care volunteers in the world of sport. It is being used as one of the key models for the Global Sports Chaplaincy Association's international training.

If you are interested in hosting a training session for members of your congregation, please contact us at [email protected]

Our Orientation to Sports Chaplaincy is a 2 hour presentation designed to give an introduction to sports chaplaincy as a way of serving the sports community. Participants are encouraged to identify whether community chaplaincy is an appropriate opportunity for them.

Our Advanced Training is our primary training for those who are becoming sports chaplains. It includes 21 hours of delivered content (including a minimum of 14 hours face-to-face) along with additional reading and video presentations. The training includes instruction and role plays around certain skill sets, along with discussion and reflection.

Our Specialised Training is primarily designed for existing sports chaplains to increase their skills and understanding. We provide regular training in Incident Response due to the demand from sports communities for ClubCare Cover.
