Sports Sunday is one day when the church thinks
about, prays for, and commits to being a presence
in the local sports community.

Each week around 14 million Australians meet to play
sport. Fields and courts all across our country are
packed with players - and those cheering them on.

Today, the sports club is one of the heartbeats of our
community. And we- the Church are being invited to
be there. The demand for Sports Chaplains is grater
than ever before.

How Does it Work?

Sports Sunday has four steps to help you impact sporting communities
through your church community

Step 1: Your game plan

When you register your church for Sports Sunday, you
will have access to our downloadable resources that will
help your congregation understand the incredible
opportunity surrounding Sports Chaplaincy.

To tell this story, you'll be able to choose from:

  • A 3 minute video
  • Sermon notes
  • Powerpoint slides
  • Posters and Handouts

Step 2: Identify Opportunities

The main goal of Sports Sunday is to help your congregation
see the opportunity that exists in their local sporting
communities - where many of them already are each week.

Invite your members to stand if they are in any way already
connected (whether they play sport themselves, coach or
volunteer in the local community or take their kids to sport).

Step 3: Pray

While these 'potential chaplains' remain standing, as
a congregation, commit these people to God.
Take the opportunity to also pray for the local clubs
and sporting communities in your area.

Step 4: Invite

Get trained
For those interested in taking the next step, we
will be holding training sessions. More info on
this training can be found on our website.

Fund a chaplain
Each chaplain cost about $3k to rain up and
support. If they can't be a physical presence,
perhaps they can enable someone else to be.
